“Gender dysphoria” is always a symptom of mental illness (usually autism and/or OCD), paraphilia, trauma, or some combination of the above. It’s never a stand-alone thing, and there’s no such thing as having an opposite-sex brain. Prove me wrong.

I had sex dysphoria since I was 2. My earliest memories are telling my mum that there was a really uncomfortable feeling between my legs and crying to her to remove it. The uncomfortable feeling didn't go away until I had SRS.
I was not sexually abused as a child.
There is actually an alternative way to treat your condition now, that is just not widely known. I found it online in 2023. I have recently looked it up, studying the account given by the young woman who was cured, and it’s the real deal Holified.
SRS and hormones have been the go to for decades. It is because you have a fundamental neurology/physiology incongruence and the neurology is impossible to reason with.
You can’t talk the related brain structures into being happy with your natal phenotype and your natal endocrine system. These brain structures do not budge for anyone or anything, so medicine addresses the physiology side the equation. That’s how it works, but most of them do not even know how it works; they just know that it does. The people in medicine seem to be clueless overall.
It’s not them understanding what they are dealing with, it is trial and error and making rules like “the people who onset very early in life seem to never desist, but there are other cases in which the distress goes away at puberty. So we will only give hormones to the people whose dysphoria gets worse after puberty just to be safe.”
They do not understand the underlying biological reality that is at play, they just notice patterns over time and make use of them.
The way to address this from the neurology side of the equation is not to argue with the stubborn neural structures that are at the root of the distress, it is to awaken an equally stubborn set of neural structures that have been dormant since before you were born.
I am very excited about the possibility of getting this treatment vetted. It’s of no use to you, obviously, as you have resolved your incongruence from the other end. I’m sure it worked out well for you. It always does. This will just help the new people who may want another option. I think the neurology route is optimal, if and when it is doable.
